Enright wins, remains in rotation

Diamondbacks rookie Barry Enright earned a win in his MLB debut with five innings of one-run baseball to down the Cardinals, 4-2. Enright will remain in the starting rotation for a while with the demotion of Dontrelle Willis to the bullpen.

Fantasy Impact: Willis immediately loses any kind of fantasy appeal he had left. Enright is a rookie who is worth a look in deeper leagues. The 24-year-old former second-round pick doesn't sound overpowering, but he improved his numbers over three seasons of minor league ball while making the jump from A-ball to Double-A. That says he learned to do a little pitching in his time in the minor leagues. His improved strikeout rate of 8.0 per nine innings this season at Double-A suggests he's got enough stuff to fool some MLB hitters. A low walk rate also helps matters despite the fact that Enright walked four batters over five innings in his debut. He's at least worth a flier, especially with the advantage of facing teams that have never seen him before.

Tolbert takes Casilla's roster spot

Rumor had it Twins second baseman Alexi Casilla might lose his starting spot. It's actually much worse than that for the second-year pro. The Twins sent the struggling Casilla to Triple-A and recalled Matt Tolbert. He will start tonight at second.

"I think he's getting so flustered offensively that it just carried over to the whole game," manager Ron Gardenhire said Wednesday before the Twins opened a three-game series against the Orioles. "That's why you send him down. He's just mentally a wreck right now as far as being able to play the game. He's got too many things going on."

The last straw came Monday night when Casilla didn't hustle after hitting a popup.

"Pop fly and ran with the bat all the way to first base, not really running. And that's just not acceptable," Gardenhire said. "It's just not the way we play the game. Especially after the night before, not running when he bunted a ball."

Fantasy Impact: Tolbert is one of those decent contact types who slugs for nearly nothing. We'd consider stashing Casilla, because he might be back soon, but we weren't excited about him in the first place.

Morales wins, gets demoted

Rockies starter Franklin Morales tossed six innings of one-run baseball to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 9-2 but then got shipped back to the Minors. The Rockies wouldn't use their fifth starter for a while in the Majors and want to keep him on schedule that guarantees more starts.

Fantasy Impact: Good fifth starters are tough to come by, because most of them become number fours. If Morales strings together a series of performances like Wednesday, he won't be bouncing back an fourth from Triple-A. Reserve him if you have roster space.
